"Liberal organizations are gearing up to spend an unprecedented $300 million in a determined bid to defeat President Bush," the Washington Post reports.
"More than 40 groups plan to fund get-out-the-vote efforts and television issue ads, assuming the traditional role of Democratic Party organizations because of the party's limited resources as a result of the ban on soft money contributions under the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law."
