Sen. Joe Lieberman is "making contingency plans" to end his presidential campaign, the AP reports. The formal announcement would come on Wednesday in Connecticut.
The Hartford Courant notes Lieberman "remained publicly upbeat in the face of the worst defeat of his 34-year political career. Prior to last week's fifth place showing in New Hampshire, he had only lost a popular vote once, a 1980 bid for Congress, and that could be explained as being overwhelmed by Ronald Reagan's momentum that year."
