How Bush Can Run Negative Ads

Dick Morris recently suggested President Bush run attack ads in the next few months to define John Kerry as an "ultraliberal." I asked Morris if the restrictions passed as part of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill would prevent Bush from following his advice:

"Yes, I think the requirement does inhibit negative ads, as was intended by the incumbents who passed it. But I think Bush can handle it by saying something like: 'This is George Bush. I am glad you've had a chance to see this advertisement which I authorized. It will give you a chance to compare our records before you vote.'"
