The latest Rasmussen Tracking Poll shows Sen. John Kerry at 47%, President Bush at 44%, and "some other candidate" at 4%.
"These numbers reflect quite a change in the race after Bush had been leading Kerry for seven straight days. The recent news cycle may be taking a toll on the President's numbers. Only time will tell whether this is a lasting shift or just a temporary aberration."
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times notes "the political world awaits" Kerry's reaction to Richard Clarke's new book. Kerry, who has been on vacation, said he "planned to read the book today."
Update: Dan Conley is "starting to see the outlines of a strategy now. Kerry gives Clarke lots of distance to make his case and take fire. Then Kerry comes in -- after a very powerful couple hours of Clarke testimony -- and lays the hammer down on Bush for his failures."
