Broadcaster Refuses To Air Nightline

According to Poynter Online, the Sinclair Broadcast Group -- which reaches about a quarter of the U.S. population -- "has ordered its ABC-affiliated stations not to carry tomorrow's Nightline, which will air the names and photos of soldiers who have been killed in combat in Iraq."

Says Sinclair General Counsel Barry Faber : "We find it to be contrary to the public interest."

Sinclair executives are major financial backers of President Bush's political campaigns.

Update: Sen. John McCain wrote to protest the decision calling it "unpatriotic."
