Will Bush Be Challenged From The Right?

Alabama's renegade Chief Justice Roy Moore -- the "Ten Commandments Judge" -- "is mulling a run for president from the right," Salon reports.

"The possibility that" Moore "could challenge President Bush in November may not be costing Karl Rove any sleep -- yet. But the chance that the popular conservative judge could do to Bush what Ralph Nader did to Al Gore in 2000 -- split his ideological base, and cost him the presidency -- has analysts crunching numbers and weighing Moore's chances."

Moore says he "will decide if he will run when he has exhausted his court appeals in the Ten Commandments case."

Taegan D. Goddard is the founder of Political Wire, one of the earliest and most influential political web sites.

Goddard spent more than a decade as managing director and chief operating officer of a prominent investment firm in New York City. Previously, he was a policy adviser to a U.S. Senator and Governor.

Goddard is also co-author of You Won - Now What? (Scribner, 1998), a political management book hailed by prominent journalists and politicians from both parties. Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
