Pluses and Minuses

With Sen. John Edwards selected as Sen. John Kerry's running mate, Larry Sabato publishes an excellent list of pluses and minuses for the Democratic presidential ticket. It's well worth a read.

However, he closes with this important reminder: "Just about all the research in the elections field has concluded that vice presidential candidates rarely make much difference at all."

Taegan D. Goddard is the founder of Political Wire, one of the earliest and most influential political web sites.
