Sen. John Kerry "ratcheted up his character-based critique of President Bush... turning health-care forums... into attacks on his opponent's honesty," the New York Times reports.
The Washington Post notes Kerry's message "speaks to a larger point" he "believes he has to make to win, which is that Bush has misled the public on issues from war to health costs."
As for Bush, the Washington Post reports he "ignored a fresh round of questions about his service in the Texas Air National Guard and, instead, repeatedly questioned the character of" Kerry at a National Guard convention.
