Battle for the DNC Heats Up

"Bill and Hillary Clinton are battling behind the scenes to install longtime political operative Harold Ickes as the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee," the New York Post reports.

Meanwhile, the Harvard Crimson says Howard Dean called rumors of his candidacy for chairman of the DNC "premature." The former Vermont governor said it was a "tough decision to make," since it could prevent him from running for president again in 2008.

ABC News has an excellent piece on the behind-the-scenes jockeying for the party post.

For reference, Kos posts a list of "the 440 people that will make the choice of the new DNC chairman."
