Money Feeds Washington Dispute

Even with Christine Gregoire (D) sworn in as governor, the Washington gubernatorial race "still wears on in the courts," the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. "Volunteer work, consulting efforts, legal advice and cash continue to flow into" both Gregoire's and Dino Rossi's (R) camps.

The Washington Post notes the Republican National Committee "is pouring money into the state for lawyers, prime-time television spots and the organization of street protests."

Meanwhile, the Seattle Times notes that Minnesota's 1962 governor's race was even closer than Washington's 2004 election, with Lt. Gov. Karl Rolvaag defeating Gov. Elmer Andersen by 91 votes after a recount.
