Bayh Could Be GOP Nightmare

Based on recent news reports, Stuart Rothenberg is convinced Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) is preparing to run for president in 2008, and argues that "if Bayh can overcome all the obvious hurdles to winning the presidential nomination, he'd pose a huge problem for the Republicans."

Though Bayh is a moderate, Rothenberg says don't confuse him "with former Sen. Zell Miller (D-GA): Bayh is a real Democrat. He voted against confirming John Ashcroft as attorney general and Condoleezza Rice at State, against the Bush tax cuts, against drilling in the Arctic, and for requiring gun-show background checks. (In 2004, the National Rifle Association gave him a D-minus.)"
