Perry Defends Videotaping Hutchinson

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) said "no one should be surprised that he videotaped potential GOP challenger Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in an appearance with" Sen. Hillary Clinton, "someone who is an 'anathema' to Republicans," the Houston Chronicle reports.

Perry noted Hutchison's recent appearance with Clinton "is different from when he wrote the then-first lady in 1993 praising her efforts to reform the national health care system."

Meanwhile, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram says Hutchison's campaign manager reminded Republicans that Perry, a former Democrat, "served as a co-chairman of Al Gore's 1988 presidential campaign."
