Georgia Will Require ID to Vote

"A broad overhaul of Georgia's election code -- including a provision that would require voters to show one of several forms of government-issued photo identification at the polls -- received final approval from the state Legislature on Thursday," the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The New York Times notes Democrats "accused the legislature's fledgling Republican majority of trying to screen out poor, rural and minority voters, who they said were less likely to have such identification and less likely to vote Republican."
