New York Republicans Court Golisano

Billionaire Tom Golisano is being wooed by Republican leaders in New York to run if, as expected, Gov. George Pataki (R) "doesn't seek a fourth term next year," the Rochester Democrat Chronicle reports. Golisano, who has run for governor three times on the Independence Party ticket, has met with Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno (R) to discuss his interest in the race, and several other Republican heavyweights have "met with him or have put out feelers."
