Concert Fundraisers Raise Eyebrows

"Despite Mick Jagger's new anticonservative lyrics, Republican lawmakers plan fund-raisers at Rolling Stones' October Washington show," the Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire reports. "In new Stones song, 'Sweet Neo Con,' Mr. Jagger attacks the religious right and the Pentagon."

Meanwhile, Republican Reps. Shimkus of Illinois and Reynolds of New York "plan events at Elton John's September D.C. appearance. Mr. John called the president 'the worst thing that has ever happened to America.' The gay singer plans a December wedding to his long-time companion. Shimkus and Reynolds voted last year for same-sex marriage ban."
