No Bounce for GOP in August

The Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire says Republicans "seek issues to fortify Congressional incumbents in 2006."

"The prevacation flurry of energy, trade and highway legislation produced 'no bounce' for members in August, says Republican strategist Scott Reed. Party leaders eye immigration control and tax-cut steps to counter discontent over gas prices and Iraq."
