Weiner Concedes to Ferrer

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) "withdrew from the Democratic race for mayor today, after unofficial results showed him finishing a distant second in Tuesday's primary to Fernando Ferrer (D), who appeared to be just a hairbreadth short of the vote needed to avoid a runoff," the New York Times reports.

"Weiner's decision means that the Democratic party will be spared a potentially divisive second phase of campaigning, and will be better able to present a unified front in its effort to unseat the Republican incumbent, Michael R. Bloomberg."
