New Survey USA approval ratings for all 50 governors show that Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) went up 26 points in ìNet Job Approvalî from August to September, the largest increase of any of 6 Governors directly affected by hurricanes in the past month, and the largest increase of any Governor in the country.
There were four other Governors affected by hurricanes that also surged:
Alabamaís Bob Riley (R) had a 21-point increase.
North Carolinaís Mike Easley (D) had a 19-point increase.
Georgiaí Sonny Perdue (R) had an 18-point increase.
Texasí Rick Perry (R) had a 17-point increase.
However, of the Governors hit by hurricanes, only Louisianaís Kathleen Blanco (D) showed a sharp decline, a dramatic 22-point drop.
