Rendell Still Leads Despite Low Approval Rating

Pennsylvania voters give Gov. Ed. Rendell (D) a 46% to 38% approval rating, "one of his lowest marks ever, but he still holds double-digit leads over any likely Republican challenger in his bid for reelection next year," according to a new Quinnipiac poll.

Rendell still leads all possible Republican challengers:
  • 47% to 34% over former Lt. Gov. Bill Scranton
  • 47% to 34% over former Pittsburgh Steeler Lynn Swann
  • 52% to 26% over State Sen. Jeff Piccola
  • 53% to 23% over lobbyist Jim Panyard
