The Buzz has a source close to former RNC chairman Ed Gillespie that says he will not be a replacement for Karl Rove, should President Bush's chief political adviser be indicted. Speculation among GOP insiders pointed to Gillespie.
ìIím certain he will not remain in the White House, nor will he return after the Miers nomination process is complete. He made a financial sacrifice to run the RNC. The partners in his new contract made an exception to allow him to temporarily return to the White House to assist in the Miers nomination. But his contract wonít allow him to remain at the White House. Besides, he is anxious to get back to the private sector.î
The New York Times says White House counselor Dan Bartlett, current RNC chairman Ken Mehlman and
Deputy Treasury Secretary Robert Kimmitt are all named as possible replacements for Rove.
Meanwhile, Raw Story says another Cheney aide is cooperating with special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.
