Most Americans Suspect Wrongdoing

"Only one in 10 Americans said they believe Bush administration officials did nothing illegal or unethical in connection with the leaking of a CIA operative's identity," according to a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll. "Thirty-nine percent said some administration officials acted illegally in the matter, in which the identity of Valerie Plame, a CIA operative, was revealed."

CNN notes the other key finding: "A majority would vote for a Democrat over President Bush if an election were held this year."

Meanwhile, the Gallup Daily Briefing says that at this point in his presidency, with a 44% approval rating, Bush is scoring lower than Eisenhower (60%), Reagan (61%), Clinton (59%) but just better than Nixon (32%).
