Lessons from the Election

Hotline On Call surveyed several dozen political strategists from both parties "to collect a list of lessons learned -- and lessons these folks hope their party didn't learn" about this year's election.

Meanwhile, Stuart Rothenberg, who typically downplays the meaning of off-year elections, shares our view that this year may be different, "in part because they may tell us something about whether the presidentís problems have started to filter down to Republicans running for other offices. They also may tell us something about the mood of the electorate nationally -- information that could be useful as we evaluate the partiesí opportunities and vulnerabilities next year."
