Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-NY) said that, with Tim Kaineís (D) victory, ìthe party will now look ëvery carefullyí at Virginia as a state it may target in next year's U.S. Senate election,î according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Schumer named former Secretary of the Navy James Webb (D) as one potential candidate against Sen. George Allen (R-VA). ìHe said there is another candidate ëwho would be a very strong and exciting candidate as well.í Sources said he was referring to Harris Miller,î a former state Democratic official with close ties to Gov. Mark Warner (D).
Regular readers will remember we identified Webb last month as a potential candidate.
