Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) begins his reelection year with a 55% to 31% lead over Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL), the only announced Republican challenger in the 2006 Florida U.S. Senate race, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.
Though many national Republicans tried to push Harris from the race, Florida Republicans say 46% to 29% that they would prefer Harris over Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) as their Senate candidate. Nelson holds an even bigger lead over Foley, 55% to 27%.
