Bush to Discuss Iraq Strategy

Later today, President Bush "will put forward for the first time a public version of what the White House calls a comprehensive strategy for victory in Iraq," the New York Times reports.

An advance copy of the National Security Council strategy document was just released.

Meanwhile, The Fix has a good overview of what the likely 2008 Democratic presidential candidates would do in Iraq. "The question now is how do Democrats seeking their party's presidential nomination go about appeasing the party's base on the Iraq issue? Is it enough to be a vocal and regular critic of the war, like Clinton, Warner and Bayh? Or does a candidate need to advocate a specific (and quick) date by which troops need to begin withdrawing from Iraq in order to win plaudits (and support) from the base?"
