The Minneapolis Star Tribune says there "worrisome signs for incumbents and particularly for Republicans" in a new statewide poll. The implications are greatest in the race for retiring Sen. Mark Dayton's (D-MN) seat.
Amy Klobuchar (D), a candidate for the U.S. Senate, and First Lady Laura Bush got the highest ratings. Rep. Mark Kennedy (R), the likely Republican candidate for the Senate in 2006, got the second-lowest rating, 47%.
Key finding: "Close association with President Bush might not be too helpful. Bush finished dead last among elected officials and candidates on a 'feeling thermometer' and those rating his job performance 'excellent' or 'pretty good' dropped to 33 percent."
