House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) "claimed victory in the Majority Leader race Saturday, but his chief rival in the contest, Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), gave no indication he would quit three weeks before the vote is scheduled to occur," Roll Call reports.
"Bluntís office put out a statement just past noon saying that he has ìthe support of more than the 117 Members of the House Republican Conference required to win the post of House Majority Leaderî over Boehner and Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ)."
Hotline On Call cautions: "Remember, it's a secret ballot and the only commits we believe count are the ones made public. And Blunt does not have 117 public commits."
