The local media in Montana is putting the heat on Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT) over his handling of campaign money connected to lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
The Helena Independent Record says Burns "vowed last month to return most of $146,700 in campaign contributions connected with confessed felon Jack Abramoff to its original donors, but most of the money went to the Montana Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council, whose lobbyist is a former Burns staffer."
Meanwhile, the Billings Gazette has a story today documenting the displeasure of Indian tribes in Montana. They believe the Senator gave them a backseat to Abramoff-affiliated tribes around the country.
