"Al Gore is getting the band back together," Ben Smith reports. The former Vice President "is hiring Roy Neel, a key aide on his 2000 presidential campaign and the manager of Howard Dean's 2004 run, to coordinate a new push on his main cause, global warming."
Gore has a new movie and book out about global warming, but Neel's role "is not connected to the book or film, but to a broader agenda."
"Gore has said he's not thinking about 2008 at the moment, but putting a political staff back together inches him that much closer toward being able to run for President. (Also reported today, his campaign committee has also written a check to a pollster, though they say it's a debt from 2000.)"
