Snow's Storm

Washington Wire: "For his first morning briefing as White House Press Secretary, Tony Snow decided to move the event back into the press secretaryís cozy West Wing office. Thatís where it began years ago as an informal get-together for the handful of reporters who covered the White House full-time. Trouble is, todayís White House press corps numbers in the hundreds (and demand for information has grown so great that recent press secretaries have done two daily briefings -- the more casual, off-camera morning 'gaggle,' and the on-camera afternoon briefing). Some 40 to 50 reporters showed up for Snowís first gaggle on Friday."

"Complicating matters further, the event was first scheduled for 9 a.m., then officially postponed until 9:30 ñ and actually began at 9:15. That left many deadline-obsessed wire service reporters -- as well as ordinary procrastinators -- stuck in the hallway, unable to hear most of what was being said."

Faced with a roomful of angry reporters, Snow conceded that might have been ìnaiveî to hold the briefing in his offce.
