In Connecticut, Lamont Closes Gap With Lieberman

In Connecticut, Ned Lamont (D) has gained ground on Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-CT), and now trails the incumbent 55% to 40% among likely Democratic primary voters, including undecided voters who are leaning towards a candidate, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.

In possible general election matchups:
  • Lieberman defeats Republican challenger Alan Schlesinger 68% to 14%
  • Lamont beats Schlesinger 37% to 20%
  • Running as an independent, Lieberman gets 56%, to 18% for Lamont and 8% for Schlesinger
Says pollster Douglas Schwartz: "Ned Lamontís surprisingly strong showing at the state Democratic convention gained him a lot of headlines and probably has helped increase his poll numbers. The biggest change is among women and liberals."
