Elliot Spitzer (D) "will walk into the first Democratic gubernatorial debate tomorrow with a stunning 78% to 9% lead" over primary challenger Thomas Suozzi (D) in the race for the Democratic nomination for Governor, according to a new Siena Research Institute poll.
Said pollster Joe Caruso: "While no election is over until the people actually vote, Tom Suozzi has been losing ground in his uphill battle against Spitzer and in the next seven weeks will need an unprecedented turnaround if heís to be successful. In this David and Goliath scenario, Suozzi is going to need a lot more than a slingshot over the next seven weeks to knock out Spitzer and win the primary."
In the U.S. Senate primary, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) doesn't do nearly as well, holding a narrow 67 point lead over Jonathan Tasini (D) in their primary fight.
