In Connecticut, Lieberman Opens Up Huge Lead

In Connecticut's U.S. Senate race, a new Quinnipiac poll shows Sen. Joe Lieberman (I) opening a massive lead on challenger Ned Lamont (D). Lieberman now holds a 52% to 35% advantage in his re-election race. Alan Schlesinger (R) gets just 7%.

This poll was taken after Monday's three-way debate. "While 35% of Connecticut voters watched Mondayís candidate debate, another 35% said they heard or read about the debate. Of those who watched the debate or read or heard about it, only 3% say they changed their mind about whom they would vote for as a result of the debate."

Said pollster Douglas Schwartz: "Ned Lamont needed to score a knockout in the debates to catch Sen. Joseph Lieberman, but he apparently didnít lay a glove on him... Observers had speculated that Alan Schlesinger would benefit from the debate exposure and take Republican votes away from Lieberman. Instead, he took Republican votes away from Lamont."
