The Rev. Ted Haggard, president of the National Association of Evangelicals, resigned "after denying an accusation by a male prostitute that the pastor paid him for sex over three years," CNN reports. The NAE is "an umbrella group for more than 45,000 churches and some 30 million members across the country."
However, after Haggard went public denying the allegations, senior church officials told KKTV 11News, Haggard "has admitted to some of the claims made by a former male escort."
Don't underestimate the political impact of this story as it may discourage Christian evangelicals from voting next week.
