Internal Poll Shows Romney Way Ahead in Iowa

The conventional wisdom says that Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain dropped out of the Ames Straw Poll because they didn't want to give Mitt Romney a bump months before the Iowa caucuses. Well it turns out Romney may not need the bump.

Marc Ambinder has an internal Romney poll that shows him with a 17 point lead over the rest of the Republican field in Iowa. Romney gets 29% support, followed by Rudy Giuliani at 12%, Fred Thompson at 10% and Sen. John McCain at 9%.
