Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore (R) said he is "fully considering" a U.S. Senate bid should Sen. John Warner (R-VA) retire, the Charlottesville Daily Progress reports.
Though he pointed to Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) and former Sen. George Allen (R-VA) as potential primary rivals, Gilmore said, "Weíre pretty confident that the message that I have and the record that I have would make me the nominee."
Of a potential Democratic opponent, former Gov. Mark Warner, Gilmore told the Culpeper Star Exponent, "I would be pleased to match my record as governor against his any time."
