Lindsey Graham (R-SC) "was seen as a potential target from conservatives in his own party for his defection from the conservative fold or from Democrats hoping to increase their Senate majority, but heading into the 2008 election, no strong challenger has emerged from either side," CQ Politics reports.

As a result, CQ now rates the race as Safe Republican.
