Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) is in a tight race to keep his job, according to a new Indianapolis Star poll. Potential challenger Jill Long-Thompson (D) edges Daniels, 44% to 43%, while Daniels just beats Jim Schellinger (D), 45% to 41%.
Key finding: In the primary to pick the Democratic challenger, both candidates are locked in a dead heat with an amazing 46% still undecided.
A new Research 2000 poll finds similar results, with Daniels and Long-Thompson tied at 45%, while Daniels barely edges Schellinger, 45% to 44%.
