New York magazine says one of the guests at a recent breakfast between Sen. John McCain and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg "came away from the conversation under
the distinct impression that Bloomberg is on McCain's short list" for vice president.
Interestingly, most speculation surrounding Bloomberg as vice president has been as Sen. Barack Obama's potential running mate.
Meanwhile, Time looks at the criteria McCain will use to pick his running mate.
Update: Marc Ambinder reports "it is true that certain McCain advisers who are privy to McCain's
thinking about the vice presidential search have asked other
Republicans about the benefits and drawbacks of selecting Bloomberg....
this could mean simply that they're curious or that they're trying to
talk McCain into thinking seriously about a Bloomberg pick... or
nothing at all."
