Ben Smith notes that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's next step is to talk to the media.
"She's still yet to speak to an outlet other than People since
she was chosen six days ago, and there are many substantive fires to
put out -- she's still casting herself as an earmark opponent, and the
decision to bring her son-in-law (apparently chewing gum on stage) to
be to the convention hall will validate and intensify the media storm
around her family life."
However, Marc Ambinder wonders if she has to talk to the media very much.
"What harm would befall the McCain campaign if Palin sat for one major
television interivew with, say, a gentle but probing Diane Sawyer...
and then an interview with her local paper in Alaska... and then gave
no press avails and held no press conferences. The media would
complain a lot. Would people care?"
