Worth Clicking: Blasts from the past wound Romney

March 31, 2009

The Buzz from NY-20

Here's a round up of what we're hearing in today special election in New York's 20th congressional district:

Josh Kraushaar reports turnout is "well above expectations" in Saratoga County. Election officials are expecting around 35% of registered voters to vote today.

The Albany Times Union reports there were 5,907 absentee ballots as of last night, which means it will take a margin of victory of at least 6,000 for a winner to be declared soon after the polls close. If it's close, it could take days or even weeks.

The Hill reports voters are being inundated with robocalls from both candidates. Text messages are being used as well, but Jim Tedisco (R) may be texting people who don't even live in his district.

More from Kraushaar: "There's a lot of anecdotal evidence emerging from my reporting that many registered Republicans are either sitting this election out, or even voting for Democrat Scott Murphy."

NBC News speculates: What if Tedisco loses by one vote?

The Legislative Gazette says that in Chatham, voters "seemed to be favoring" Murphy over Tedisco "but not by a large margin."

The Village Voice reports that Tedisco's lawyer wants ballots impounded in Duchess County.
