Former DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe (D) raised $4.2 million in this year's first quarter as he seeks the Virginia governorship, CQ Politics reports. With McAuliffe's national network, a large portion of the money came from backers who don't even live in Virginia.
Rival Brian Moran's (D) campaign pounced saying that while they raised only about $800,000 last quarter, more than 90% of donations came from Virginia residents.
However, The Hotline reports that of McAuliffe's total, $760,000 was from Virginians -- even more than Moran's total.
