In another attempt at bipartisanship, President Obama meets with Newt Gingrich and others at the White House today to discuss education policy. Gingrich has been an especially harsh critic of Obama over the last few months.
However, Ben Smith notes the White House invitation "serves the mutual interests of Obama and Gingrich by elevating the speaker to a role as leader of the opposition, one in which the White House evidently views him as basically harmless."
