Previewing Cheney's Speech

Former Vice President Dick Cheney will give a speech this morning on national security at the American Enterprise Institute -- just minutes after President Obama concludes his own talk on the subject.

According to those who have been briefed on the speech, Cheney will defend the Bush years and accuse the Obama administration of "mischaracterizing the decisions we made."

Ben Smith says they're "doing their best over at AEI to stage it as a debate: The think tank will be piping Obama's remarks into the hall where Cheney is set to speak, and Cheney will wait for the president to conclude, I'm told."

"Cheney's partisans think this couldn't have been set up better for him" and as we suggested earlier, "for the same reason, they're also a little worried it's a kind of trap."
