Democrats Retake Control of New York State Senate

New York State Sen. Pedro Espada "returned to the Democrats and was named Senate majority leader as part of a deal worked out by Senate Democratic leaders, ending a month long stalemate that has hobbled state government," the New York Times reports.

Democrats now hold a 32-30 majority in the chamber.
