House health care negotiations "dissolved in acrimony," with Blue Dog Democrats "saying they were 'lied' to by their Democratic leaders," The Hill reports.
The seven Blue Dogs on the Energy and Commerce Committee "stormed out" of a meeting with their committee chairman, Henry Waxman (D-CA), saying Waxman had been negotiating in bad faith.
The big decision for Democrats is whether they should now bypass Waxman's committee and take the legislation directly to the House floor for a vote next week.
Meanwhile, the AP reports House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) says lawmakers "may not be able to vote on a health care bill next week
but might remain in Washington in August to complete President Barack
Obama's top domestic priority."
Update: Roll Call reports negotiations are "back on track."
