If you've been on the Internet today -- and live in an area with big election tomorrow -- you probably saw some Google "network blasts" by the various campaigns. A network blast is a technique where a campaign essentially opens the floodgates and plasters their display ads everywhere on the Google Content Network -- those websites that host Google ads.
In New York City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's campaign made one of the biggest network blasts by a politician to-date. Bob McDonnell in Virginia is also blasting the network in Virginia and D.C., and Doug Hoffman is running a blast in NY-23 as well.
Google tells Political Wire that there are more coming but it's interesting to note that Creigh Deeds (D) in Virginia and Bill Owens in NY-23 have only done some limited targeting, not full-out networks blasts.
