Palin Says Obama Birth Certificate is an Issue

In an interview with conservative talk show host Rusty Humphries, Sarah Palin was asked whether she would make an issue about President Obama's birth certificate if she ran for president in 2012.

Said Palin: "I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers... I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records -- all of that is fair game."

GOP 12: "Is this what happens when you've been in an echo chamber for weeks, and think you can get away with saying anything?"

However, on Facebook last night Palin insisted she wasn't siding with "stupid conspiracy theories."

Taegan D. Goddard is the founder of Political Wire, one of the earliest and most influential political web sites.

Goddard spent more than a decade as managing director and chief operating officer of a prominent investment firm in New York City. Previously, he was a policy adviser to a U.S. Senator and Governor.

Goddard is also co-author of You Won - Now What? (Scribner, 1998), a political management book hailed by prominent journalists and politicians from both parties. In addition, Goddard's essays on politics and public policy have appeared in dozens of newspapers across the country, including the Washington Post, USA Today, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer and Christian Science Monitor.

Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
