Demon Sheep

With polls showing her losing to Tom Campbell (R) in California's U.S. Senate race, Carly Fiorina (R) releases a video attack that is the buzz of Twitter this morning -- mostly because it backfired.

It's definitely worth watching.

Jonathan Chait: "The funny thing about this ad, aside from the clumsy over-the-top quality, is the metaphor... And what's the metaphor the ad uses? Sheep. But not in a disparaging way. The good politicians are sheep, doing what Grover Norquist tells them to do. Campbell, the ad tells us, is only pretending to be a sheep, but he's really a wolf. So vote for the sheep."

Taegan D. Goddard is the founder of Political Wire, one of the earliest and most influential political web sites.

Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
