A YouGov/Sunday Times poll in Britain found David Cameron's Conservative Party leading Prime Minister Gordon Brown's Labour Party 37% to 35% -- the closest gap between the parties in more than two years.
That result would give Labour a total of 317 seats, nine short of an overall majority, with the Conservatives holding just 263. Such an outcome would mean Brown could stay as prime minister.
The Economist: "That may be an outlier: most polls show the Tory lead at around six points. But thanks to the vagaries of the electoral system, such margins may not be enough to secure an overall majority in Parliament, and could even hand victory to Labour."
